How a Writer Celebrates

OK, I’ve been a very bad, bad blogger, and I hereby apologize. I’ve had just a bit on my plate since I sold my first book!

There has been disaster (my computer going on the complete fritz for nearly two weeks and emerging from the computer doctor’s with a new memory and hard drive), elation (starting the sequel for The Spellbound Bride, tentatively titled The Unsuitable Bride) and frustration (my kids are still not out of school yet!!!)

But let’s get to the part that you’re here to read about–the celebration!

When I got the call, my husband was out of town on a once a year business trip. I must have tried his room at the hotel at least 20 times, absolutely sure he would freak out if I didn’t tell him first that I’d sold a book. I did manage to call just about everyone I knew or could email after I told him that night.

We went to dinner out at my favorite restaurant, Cosmo’s (an amazing Italian restaurant with kick ass martinis) and there were flowers and balloons as well as fun gifts from the “Goal Girls” including a pen to autograph books with. I found out on a Thursday, May 11, and managed to keep the celebration going with various friends, family and online buddies until sometime Tuesday the following week!

Now, about three weeks later, reality is setting in. I’ve got a lot of work in front of me! I’ve got more books to write, events to plan for 2007 and a publishing date. The Spellbound Bride will be out in a bookstore near you in May 2007!

So I’m headed back to the keyboard…
