Thought for today: We all have the same 24 hours of the day.
Question: What will you make of your time?

My mother would have been 58 today. Instead of getting to take her to lunch at the lovely little tea room in town she would have loved, I am remembering all the wonderful things she did and how she deeply touched other people’s lives, those of her friends and co-workers, her clients and her family.

I’m also inspired to get going. My friends always look cross-eyed at me when I say things like this because they already think I’m too busy between running a company, having two little kids and writing books, but the truth is I’m hyper aware of time.

I plan on squeezing every last minute for what it’s worth and making it all count toward something. Maybe that something will be the smile on my daughter’s face, maybe a warm hug from a best friend and a chance to hold her new little baby in my arms. Some days it will be an armful of packages taken to the post office, clearing a rather large chunk of my office as things go out for clients. Other days it is finishing a chapter in my latest book or completing a dreaded FIRM tape.

Whatever it is for you, whatever your dreams may be, I have to ask, what are you waiting for??? Time isn’t going to stand still for you. Find a way to go out and snatch a little bit of your dream today. If it means writing a book, sit down for five minutes and think about your character or start a first chapter.

By putting effort toward the things that inspire and revv you up, you are making your dreams a greater reality. (see the amazing book Wishcraft for details). In case you can’t tell my whole view is that waiting for retirement to do the things you love is a joke. The truth is you may never get there!

Hence the reason I’m not going to wait on getting a contract to keep writing books. But I sure would like to get one and start selling them!
